George is also a sales person and educational consultant to elementary music programs; middle, junior and senior high school music programs; and colleges and universities. Since 1980, he has spent his work time devoted to the needs of music education, as he believes this is the best educational mind training experience students can experience.
Born and raised in the Charleston area, George graduated from Clendenin High School where he was a band member under the tutelage of John R. Barnes. In both high school and college, he played drums and other percussion instruments. After receiving a Bachelorís Degree from Glenville State College,  George directed bands and conducted choirs in West Virginia  for eight years and worked as a music salesman for ten years.
In 1980 George felt led to create a music store dedicated to helping educators, music students and parents in the state. As a result, Kerrís Music World was incorporated on July 28, 1980 . In 2006 George decided to add a new store location in Huntington to better serve the Tri-State area. The new store is located at 5505 Route 60 E just off the 29th Street Exit from Interstate 64. George has worked hard to ensure that the new store will have the same high standards of customer service and instrument repair as the original store.
George is the husband of Elaine Kerr, who is the uniform sales person for Kerrís Music World, Inc. Their children, George S. and Sarah, have both been trained in the musical field. Son George S. works in the Charleston store and Sarah is a Pharmacist in Charleston .
In his spare time, Georgeís hobbies include collecting old antique instruments and accumulating collectibles from the New York Yankees. A true fan of the Yankees, George has designated a part of his recreation room at home to his Yankees collection.
